Mission

It is the mission of NWA to ensure elected officials and other policy makers support a vibrant workforce development system that supports America’s ability to successfully compete in the global economy. The mission is accomplished by the continued development of a comprehensive and effective workforce system and through the efforts of workforce professionals at both the local and state levels by:

  • Providing effective leadership and developing a strong advocacy system for the strengthening of the workforce development system;
  • Educating Members of Congress and the general public about the benefits of theworkforce development system and the impact local program achievements have on national policy; and Implementing an effective system of communication for sharing information about current workforce development issues.

 

BASIC OBJECTIVES OF NWA

This association shall be affiliated with states, cities, counties and other jurisdictions. The objectives of this organization shall be to stimulate and contribute to the improvement of employment and training programs and practices throughout the nation by:

  • Educating elected and appointed officials, Congress, members of the Executive Branch, Agencies of the US Government, State Workforce Investment Boards, Workforce Development Boards, One Stop Center Directors, Representatives from Business and Industry, and other appropriate groups, about employment & training programs and workforce development systems.
  • Improving the development and implementation of workforce development services through the sharing of information and expertise, by ensuring the availability of quality workforce training opportunities.
  • Determining and effectively expressing the collective views of the membership on pending and recently enacted legislation, regulations, proposed policies, procedures and practices in ways that promote, maintain and enhance the integrity and effectiveness of the nation's workforce development programs.

Fostering the initiation and development of effective partnerships at the national, regional, state and local level by encouraging full dialogue on policies, procedures, programs and activities that collectively enhance workforce development efforts.
